Trust in research can no longer be assumed. It has to be designed, governed, and demonstrated across borders, technologies, and institutions.
AI now sits inside almost every scholarly workflow: screening, triage, summarization, review support, discovery. Each of those hand-offs is a decision about where a machine's judgment ends and a person's begins. Very few of them were made deliberately. They accumulated.
This panel at the STM Dinner and Conference in Frankfurt asks who is actually making that call, and on what basis. What has to stay human because accountability requires it, what can safely move to a model, and how a publisher demonstrates the difference to the authors, funders, and readers who are starting to ask.
